Students may initiate a request to defer commencement of studies or suspend their studies on the grounds of compassionate or compelling circumstances.
Students may apply to cancel their enrolment at FIC. Students may have to comply with the requirements of the FIC Student transfer policy and procedure.
The College may suspend or cancel a student’s enrolment as a response to a student breaching the College Code of conduct or for unsatisfactory course progress or for ELICOS students who fail to maintain satisfactory attendance in accordance with student visa requirements.
FIC monitors all student course progress and provides assistance if the student is experiencing difficulties and not progressing through their course as per the course schedule.
The College may decide to defer the commencement of a course. If the College defers the commencement of a course the provider default conditions in the Written Agreement between the College and the student will be triggered and the College will be obliged to repay all course money within 14 days of the date of deferral unless alternative arrangements can be made which are acceptable to students.
Cancelling a student’s enrolment (college or student initiated) will trigger the refund arrangements in the Written Agreement between the College and the student. Students who have their enrolment cancelled and think they are entitled to a refund must apply to FIC for a refund.
If approved, the College will report any deferment, suspension or cancellation of enrolment (college or student initiated) to DIBP which may affect the status of a student’s visa. If students require more information as to how this action may affect their student visa status they should contact the local DIBP office or phone the DIBP helpline 131 881.
Please refer to the Defer suspend or cancel enrolment policy and procedure. A copy of the policy can be accessed by contacting the college at info@flinderscollege.edu.au.
